Kaduna: KASU students barricade Govt. House, major roads in protest over tuition fees hike

…Demands reversal

Major roads leading to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna’s seat of power, were yesterday barricaded by concerned students of Kaduna State University, (KASU), protesting what they described as unreasonable and insensitive Increase in their tuition fees.

The students, in their hundreds, went about their protest peacefully, but blocked all access to the roads. They later engaged in special prayers against the State governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa’i, calling on God to intervene in their situation.

They also pleaded again with the governor to reconsider his decision in the interest of the poor majority that cannot afford to pay the high fees.

The students lamented that even final year students may not be able to graduate if the increase is not reversed.
